At the end of each year, so many people advise that they meant to go to the dentist to have their teeth cleaned, but and then the excuses start. As we have a couple of weeks until the end of the year, we recommend the following:
Review your Employee Benefits and Year End
Employee benefits typically run from January 1 to December 31 and depending on your carrier you get a certain dollar amount you can use for dental each year.
In order to get your dental benefits paid for in the current year, the expense needs to be incurred in that year.
The amount of dental benefit is dependent on the carrier and what your employer sets up.
Your benefits do not carryover from one year to the next year, they are reset each year at the beginning of the year.
If you have dental work that needs to be done and it is going to be quite expensive, the recommended practise is to start the dental in the current year, use up what you have avaialable for benefits and then have the remaider of the work completed in the next year.
